Project Overview
InstaScore is a modern sports technology platform built to deliver live scores, fixtures, standings, team and player information, competition management and fan engagement through one connected digital experience.
We designed InstaScore to solve a major problem for emerging and underserved sports: many competitions do not have access to the sophisticated live-data infrastructure available to major professional leagues.
A central focus of the platform is flag football, where we developed our own real-time scoring infrastructure that allows authorised umpires and referees to update matches directly from the field as games happen.
Alongside flag football, InstaScore is also designed to integrate football and basketball data through external APIs, creating a broader multi-sport experience for fans.
The platform is built as a Progressive Web App (PWA), providing an app-like experience across mobile and desktop while supporting home-screen installation and push notifications.
The Challenge
Sports fans expect immediate access to scores, fixtures and match updates.
For established football and basketball competitions, this information is often available through commercial sports-data providers.
Smaller leagues, grassroots competitions and emerging sports such as flag football frequently do not have access to the same infrastructure.
This creates several problems.
Competition organisers may need to manage teams, players, fixtures, results and standings manually. Match results may only be published after games have ended, while fans who cannot attend the venue have no way to follow the action in real time.
We wanted to build a platform that could solve both sides of the problem:
Give competition organisers the tools to professionally manage their sport, while giving fans a modern real-time experience.

Flag Football Live Scoring
A defining feature of InstaScore is its dedicated official-led live scoring system for flag football.
Many flag football competitions do not have a central data provider capable of supplying live scores and match events.
We solved this by building our own live match infrastructure.
Authorised umpires and referees at the venue can log into InstaScore, access their assigned matches and update the game while it is being played.
Those updates are then delivered to the public-facing application so supporters can follow the action in real time.
This provides smaller competitions with a level of digital coverage traditionally associated with much larger professional sports.
Referee & Umpire Match Console
Umpires and referees have a dedicated match-management experience.
Officials only receive access to the games they are authorised to manage, helping maintain data integrity and preventing unauthorised score changes.
From the match console, officials can update relevant information throughout the game.
Depending on the rules and configuration of the competition, this can include:
